I’m doing a bunch of NZ gigs over the next couple weeks. My current DJ sets cover a lot of genres, but mostly I like to kick off with new Hip-Hop and then get into the house/dance side of things, followed by who knows what! (it could be a dash of dubstep, d’n'b, r’nb or old school hip-hop). As always Im having fun and throwing some cuts and tricks in the mix and, most importantly, keeping the party rockin.

As an extra bonus this week our man PNC will be putting down the mic and picking up the laptop for a celebrity DJ cameo. Who know’s what tricks he has up his sleeve. It has to be seen to be believed.

I’m hoping for some slightly better weather down south today as I head to New Plymouth for a show at Club 55. It’ll be my first time back down there in a couple years so Im looking forward to it. My set starts after midnight so If you’re in the area make sure you come along, it could be a while before I make it back down there again!

The second edition of our new monthly party “GoodTymes” is taking place on Saturday the 31st of July at Hitch, 2 Fort Lane, Auckland City.
This month we’re happy to be representing the new school with Fire & Ice and one of my old school favourites, the legendary Bevan Keys, playing a selection of Hip-Hop, Funk, Soul, Boogie and generally great tunes. It’s a dope bar with good music, great people and GoodTymes for all. Make sure we see you there!

It’s great when you finish a video and it lives up to your vision for the song. This is instantly one of my favourite clips that I’ve done. The process was challenging and the end result is stunning. A very big thanks goes out to our director Greg Page (Greg also directed my previous videos for “Stop The Music”, “321/Get Back” and “Angels”).

Falling Down Video On TV

For those of us who live in New Zealand you can see the video for my newest single ‘Falling Down ft. Milan Borich’ on C4. The premier screening was last night (Somehow that vital information slipped past me, otherwise I would have given you all the heads up!). All good though, I’m glad its getting spins!

Grind Music Radio

I had the pleasure of joining my friends Sean C and LV on their Grind Music Radio show last thursday. For those unfamiliar with the show it’s a live one hour weekly online Hip-Hop radio show and what makes it unique are the legendary guest producers whom they interview week after week. The list of guests so far includes luminaries such as DJ Premier, Alchemist, Just Blaze, Q-Tip and many more. The stories they uncover on this show are amazing, historic, hilarious and always insightful.

Last thursday’s special guest was DJ Scratch of EPMD. I was amazed and reminded of how influential this guy actually was to me as a young fan, not only for his beats but also for his scratching performances on record. I used to listen to the EPMD track “Funky Piano” over and over again to learn his cuts and then not too many years later it was his production on the first and subsequent Busta Rhymes solo albums that would inspire me to get creative on the beats. Scratch is one of Hip-Hops greatest producer’s, his catalogue is crazy. I’ll post that interview as soon as it’s available online.

Grind Music Radio is a must for any Hip-Hop fan and should be of particular interest to any aspiring (or established) producer/beatmaker.

New York

For the past few days I’ve been hitting the pavement in New York City with the specific intention of getting things crackin for P-Money stateside. Assisting me on this endeavour is my good man Mr Andy Murnane aka YDNA of Dawn Raid and riding shotgun is the homie Monsta G (a very talented artist in his own right). I don’t wanna divulge too much at this stage (I believe in the jinx!) but trust we are putting in some solid foundations.
I’m really enjoying working alongside Andy, a person whose ambition matches my own. We’ve watched each other grow, been competitors and co-conspirators pushing New Zealand artists forward. Our approaches, aesthetic, taste and style are often opposed but the end goal is always the same. We share a passion for music and this business, so it was only a matter of time until we could work together on something big.

As the pieces come together and shit gets locked down I will share more but for now I just felt it best to check in and keep the blog alive!
Shout out to Boss Lady, Sean C and LV, Boogie Blind, DJ Shiftee, Sha Money XL and whomever else I may cross paths with this week. Cheers!
